Does luxury vinyl flooring make a room colder?

Does luxury vinyl flooring make a room colder?

No. Although luxury vinyl plank and tile-sized pieces are officially classified as hard surfaces, they're resilient flooring. That means they're warmer and more flexible than most hard surfaces.

Many use it for senior or arthritic pets so they have a comfy place to nap. Read on to learn more.

Vinyl also doesn’t hold on to heat or cool

It doesn't transfer it, either. All it does is react to the room's existing temperature. If the room's warm, the floor will be warm–and vice versa.

Underlayments make a difference

Often, people will use an underlayment, especially if they're installing their luxury vinyl tile or plank over something hard and cold like concrete. (Some products already come with one attached.)

Underlayments add cushioning that block drafts, reduce noise and make it more comfortable to stand and walk. They even become vapor barriers. So if you feel you need more warmth, consider an underlayment.

Layering helps, too

If you still want it warmer, layer some area rugs or mats over the vinyl. Layering is a big trend right now, as are area rugs.

Layering is aesthetic and functional. It'll add warmth, texture, and visual interest to your vinyl plank sometimes called LVP flooring or tile-sized pieces.

Area rugs have a way of pulling all of the room's design elements together. They won't cover the floor but will accent and highlight the vinyl.

Countless other benefits

This has a high-end style with true-to-life images of wood, stone, and tile. The floors have depth, dimension, and textured looks.

It’s also low maintenance, needing only regular sweeping and mopping. Installation, too, is simple and fast, especially when the tile-sized pieces (LVT flooring) or planks are installed to float.
